Fukuoka Softbank Ryoya Kurihara The player hit a go-ahead two-run homer, his 18th of the season, and achieved his 100th career Home Run, becoming the 314th player in history to do so.
Starting as the cleanup hitter and third third baseman, Kurihara stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the first inning with two outs and a runner on second base. With a 0-1 count, he swung hard at a pitcher from opposing starter Hiroto Saiki, sending the ball high into right field and into the stands. His milestone home run gave his team the lead.
Kurihara, who entered a period of prolific hitting in May with 11 Home Run and 26 RBI, currently leads Pacific League with 18 Home Run and 49 RBI. He is also dominating the interleague games with 6 Home Run and 16 RBI.
