Seibu Lions suffered their third consecutive loss, dropping to second place for the first time in about a month since regaining the top spot on May 24th.

Starting pitcher Kaima Taira threw 107 pitches over 6 innings, strike out 5, giving up 7 hit and a season-high 4 runs (2 earned) before being pulled from the game, resulting in his second loss of the season. He started well in the first inning, getting three consecutive batters to ground out to second base. He managed to get out of the second and third innings without giving up any runs despite allowing runner on base, but he ran into trouble in the fourth inning.
