Lotte's pitcher Kazuya Ojima pitched seven innings, allowing five hit and two runs, but his chance for a third win was dashed.

The offense seized the momentum in the first inning, trailing by one run. They attacked opposing starter Fujii, creating a scoring opportunity with two outs and runners on first and second base, when Sato hit a game-tying single to right field. Then, Yamaguchi followed with a go-ahead two-run doble to right-center field, giving them the lead.

In the eighth inning, Suzuki allowed Asamura to hit a two-run doble to tie the game, putting runners on first and second with two outs. When the television cameras showed Kojima in the dugout, the left-hander was biting his lip and his face showed his disappointment.
