Nippon-Ham won a close game, extending their winning streak to eight games, their longest since their 15-game winning streak in 2016 when they won the championship. This also set a new winning streak record for manager Tsuyoshi Shinjo.

Starting pitcher no hitter delivered a powerful performance, allowing runner on struck out but striking out batters when necessary. Despite giving runs on a wild pitch, he pitched well, allowing 6 hit 1 runs (0 earned) through 7 innings, striking out 11 strike out, and earning his second win of the season, his first in about two months since his no-hitter against Lotte on March 31st (at Escon Stadium).

In the fifth inning, with the score tied, Mizuno hit a go-ahead RBI single that hit the left-field fence wall with one out and a runner on second triple. Reyes followed with an RBI single to center field, extending the lead.
