Softbank Hawks pitcher Jun Maeda ran into trouble in the sixth inning. He allowed his first hit, a single to center field by Uchiyama, and then allowed the bases to load with one out before giving up a two-bases loaded single to right field by Iwata. He was taken out of the game after the score was tied.

He pitched perfectly without allowing a single runner up to the fifth inning. After taking 4 struck out in the second inning, they continued their fast-paced pitch from the third inning onward. This was his third start of the season, and in his previous two appearances, he was replaced after five innings. He was caught just after entering the longest inning.
