Hokkaido Nippon-Ham 's Chusei Mannami executed a successful safety squeeze.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, with Hokkaido Nippon-Ham leading by two runs, Walk to Yuya Gunji and hit by Reyes put runners on first and third with one out, bringing up Manami to the plate. On the second pitch of a 0-1 count, he attempted a safety squeeze, and the ball went between pitcher and first baseman. This hit allowed Gunji to score, adding a crucial run. The previous day, Ryota Isobata had attempted a safety squeeze in the top of the 10th extra inning but failed, but on this day it was a resounding success.
Manami recorded RBI since April 19th with an unexpected attack that caught the opponent off guard. He also got hit in five games.
