◆ Pacific League: Nippon-Ham vs. Seibu Lions (15th, Escon Stadium)
Seibu Lions took the lead with a hit infielder Tyler Nevin.
In the sixth inning, with the score still 0-0, the bases were loaded with one bases loaded. Nevin, who was starting as the cleanup hitter and first baseman, swung at a high 135 km/h slider from opposing starter Tatsu, but the ball was a shallow fly ball to center field. However, third runner Canario sprinted home and scored a crucial go-ahead run.
Last season, Nevin had a batting average of .368 against Tatsu, hit At Bat 19 at-bats. In games against the same opponent on June 29th and July 14th (at Belluna Dome), he prevented Tatsu from achieving shutout game win on both occasions, demonstrating his "favorite opponent" status and immediately RBI in his first encounter with him this season.
The team is currently on a six-game winning streak, and a seventh consecutive win would mark their first such achievement in three years, since July 2023.
