Fujiwara had injured his right shoulder while playing defense in the fifth inning of the game against Softbank Hawks on the same day and had to leave the game. Fujiwara was currently leading The Marines offense with a league-leading batting average with runners in scoring position at .433, second-best on-base percentage at .405, and third-best batting average at .297.

Losing a key player in the batting lineup is a significant blow to the team. Fujiwara had played in 35 games so far, batting .297 with 2 Home Run, 17 RBI, and 4 stolen base bases.
