Lotte pitcher Kazuya Ojima started the game and pitched seven innings, giving up six hit three runs (one earned), but was unable to secure his first win of the season, suffering his third loss of the season.

In his eighth season, after suffering two consecutive losses, he was removed from the active roster on April 6th and sent to the farm team for readjustment. In his third start, he had a perfect start with both his fastball and breaking breaking ball, pitch flawlessly until one out in the fifth inning. However, in the sixth inning, he gave up a run on a timely doble to left-center field by Moritomo. Aito then misplayed hit to center field by Nishikawa. Furthermore, he gave up a third run on sacrifice fly to center field by Nakagawa.

After the game, he revealed his confidence for the future, saying, "I think I was able to do what I've been working on in the minor leagues: throwing my fastball consistently. It's not like I'm saying, 'Try and hit it if you can,' but even when the batters are expecting a fastball, I'm consistently throwing my fastball to get fouls, which is something I've been working on in the minor leagues. I think that's the simplest approach, so I focused on that and threw with the intention of showing how I've changed."
