Orix Buffaloes 's Ryu Sugisawa hit a two-run triple to take the lead.

Sugisawa entered the game as a defense top of the seventh inning. With neither team scoring, the bottom of the eighth inning saw a golden opportunity with one out and runners on second and third base. He came up to bat for the first time and hit splitter, the second pitch thrown by pitcher Sato Ryunosuke. The ball flew up to left-center field and went through defense for a two-run doble. It was a hit that broke the deadlock.

Sugisawa joined Orix Buffaloes as the fourth pick in the 2022 draft. He made a great showing in his first at-bat in the 2026 exhibition game.
