Seibu Lions won their home opener thanks to a hit by outfielder An-Ko Lin.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, with doble, leadoff hitter Hasegawa hit a double down the left field line to get on base. Nishikawa followed with a single to center hit and a stolen base, putting runners on second and third with no outs. Then, cleanup hitter An-Ko Lin hit a two-doble down the right field line to take the lead.
In the second inning, trailing by one run, the offense tied the game with one out and runners on second and third base when Genda hit a ground ball to second base. Then, in the fourth inning, trailing by one run again with no outs and a runner on first base, first-round draft pick Kojima hit a two-run homer, the first home run by a rookie in any of the 12 teams, temporarily putting the team ahead.
On the pitching side, starter Sumida pitched five innings, giving up eight hit but only three runs, a resilient performance. After that, Shinohara, Kainō, and Ramirez pitched scoreless runs, securing the team's win.
