Seibu Lions announced on the 16th pitcher Haruto Yamada underwent arthroscopic cleaning of his right elbow joint at a hospital in Kanagawa Prefecture on March 9th in order to improve his physical condition. He is expected to be out of action for four months.

Last season, his third as a professional, Yamada made a breakthrough, appearing in 49 games and recording 3 wins, 3 losses, 17 hold, 1 save, and ERA of 2.08.
