Lotte's new foreign players, pitcher Jose Castillo (30) (formerly of the Orioles) and pitcher Sam Long (30) (formerly of the Royals), both took to bullpen for the first time at the Miyakonojo camp in Miyazaki on the 2nd.

With catcher, Castillo threw 24 pitches and Long pitch 31. Long, who has experience as both a starter and reliever in 162 major league games, confidently stated, "Whatever role manager Saburo wants me to play, I'll do it, whether it's as a starter or a reliever. I have experience in both, so I'm confident I can succeed."
