Nippon-Ham announced on the 2nd that they have reached an agreement with outfielder Franmil Reyes (31) for a contract extra inning for next season and beyond.

Reyes, who left Japan after the Climax Series (CS), commented through the team: "I am very happy to be able to play for this team again. I am grateful to the fans and everyone in the organization for believing in me, and I will give my all next season as well. Thank you for your continued support."

Reyes, a native of the Dominican Republic, made his Major League debut with the Padres in 2018. He subsequently played for the Indians (now the Guardians), Cubs, and Royals, appearing in a total of 548 Major League games and recording 108 career Home Runs, including a career-high 37 in 2019.

After joining Nippon-Ham in 2024, he hit 25 Home Run in his first year. In 2025, his second year, he won two titles with 32 Home Run and 90 RBI. This season, he also hit 32 Home Run and became the leading hitter with a .313 batting average. Since the Central League will also introduce the DH system starting next season, it is believed that multiple teams moved to acquire him, but he ultimately remained with Nippon-Ham.

In the United States, reporter Mike Rodriguez, who previously served as an analyst for the Cubs' Spanish-language broadcasts and is well-versed in Latin American baseball, reported on the 1st (2nd Japan time) that Nippon-Ham has signed outfielder Reyes to a four-year contract worth up to $40 million (approximately 6.3 billion yen). The average annual salary would be $10 million (approximately 1.58 billion yen), and it is said that an annual salary exceeding 1.5 billion yen would be among the largest in NPB history.
