SMBC Japan Series 2026 Game 3: Softbank Hawks vs DeNA (27th, Mizuho PayPay Dome)

Softbank Hawks infielder Hotaka Yamakawa recorded the team's first hit with a hard sprint. With two outs in the second inning, he hit Azuma's breaking ball toward the gap between third and short. He snatched an infield hit to shortstop by running at full speed.

He reached third base on the following center-field hit by Makihara. He took off on a full count and sprinted hard. Once on base, he had his hands on his knees, gasping for breath. Shaking his massive 112-kilogram frame, he created a scoring opportunity with runners on first and third, but the next batter, Umino, struck out swinging.
