Orix Buffaloes 'Alen Kuri

Orix Buffaloes pitcher Alen Kuri (35) revealed on the 17th that he is taking an 'autumn break' in pursuit of his long-held goal of 200 innings. In his second season since joining from Hiroshima as a free agent, he finished with 163 2/3 innings, with his career high being 174 1/3 innings in 2023. Stating that he is 'thinking of the 200-inning mark as the top priority,' he has added a new twist to his off-season adjustments.

His final appearance of the season was on October 3rd. He spent the following week checking his pitch form and movements. Currently, he is in a rest period, stating, "I want to work with the image of rebuilding everything from scratch," and will restart in November. He expressed his determination, saying, "I want to take plenty of time through November, December, and January so that I can throw properly on the first day of camp."

Over the past two years, with transfers and the Climax Series, it was difficult to find a proper balance. Reflecting on the frustration of sinking into the B-class for the first time in two years, the 'Iron Arm' looked forward, saying, 'I have to deliver better performances every single year. I don't think I've gotten old yet.' He will use his time wisely and systematically. (Toru Osada)
