Nippon-Ham pitcher Ryusei Kawano started his own training at Escon on the 17th. He showed off his body, which has grown a size larger through weight training.
Up until now, he has been doing his own training in Okayama, where his wife's parents live. Next to their home, they have built a private training facility where he can also live. "It's a room in a house. About 20 tatami mats in size. I put weight equipment in it, set up a net, put in a ramp, and I can throw whenever I want. I want to be able to do everything in that room. With the full cooperation of my wife's parents. I have to make sure I use it to the fullest," he revealed.
Thanks to this, his physique has scaled up from last season. "I'm trying to increase my pitching speed and build a physique that will allow me to complete the entire year without injury," he explained. He gained 4kg to 91kg and built muscle with "bodybuilder-style training." From now on, he plans to drop his weight to around 87kg, the same as at the start of last season, and then focus on increasing his muscle mass.
Last season, his condition did not improve after the summer and he was left out of the CS squad. He started training around that time and said, "I wondered if it was okay to be thinking about next year when the team was working so hard, but I did it for my own survival. I did it so that I could stay active for a long time. I don't know what the results will be this year, but I'm working hard because I think this is the right answer, so now it's all about producing results."
