Draft pick number one, Jay Ohkawa enters bullpen.

Nippon-Ham 's first-round draft pick, pitcher Jay Ohkawa (22) from Meiji University, participated in the rookie joint voluntary training held at the team's minor league facility in Kamagaya, Chiba on the 15th, and entered bullpen for the first time.

It was the second day of the third phase of the rookie joint voluntary training. He threw 20 pitches in the indoor bullpen with catcher standing, and reflected on his first time pitching on bullpen without any physical problems up to this point. Rather than the ball itself, my pitch today was to first get my feet on the ground and throw. Rather than the quality of the ball itself, I was just thinking about getting up on my feet, so in that respect it was good."

When the first-round draft pick right-hander entered bullpen, he became the center of attention, with classmates Fukushima and Azeyanagi, as well as last year's first-round draft pick Shibata, standing behind catcher to observe the trajectory of his pitches. "I enjoyed it more than I was nervous," he said, but there were also times when the ball slipped out of his hand. "My timing was a little off, so I thought that if the timing is off, it might end up like that. I lost my balance when I was standing and shifting my weight, so I thought, 'This isn't good,' but I decided to try throwing it anyway, and it ended up being a wild pitch," he said, analyzing the cause thoroughly. "My strength is the hop component, and rather than angle, I'm aiming for a ball that shoots up from below," he said, pursuing the quality of the fastball he throws from his 180cm height.

Fukushima, who was watching the pitch, seemed to admire the ball muscles, saying, "It was amazing, the form and the form are insanely beautiful," and he was curious about pitch, the same right-hander in the same grade. Coach pitcher of the Urano 2nd team, who also watched pitch, observed the pitch for the first time and said, "It was great, I know my ability, so I want you to continue to develop your strengths."
