昨季は腰の故障などもあり、自己最少の２０試合出場にとどまった。昨年９月に腰の手術を受けて「１年間戦える体をもう一度、１から作り直していこうとやっています。出力もしっかり上げていけるようにやっています」と巻き返すために、９日からの自主トレでも精力的にバットを振り込んだり、ノックで打球を受けたりしている。
He intends to compete at second base this season. "I'm in a position where I have to go and take the position. I have to compete hard and win. I have to produce results. I want to prepare well so that I can make an impression from day one," he said, approaching his 12th year of training camp not just for adjustments, but with a spirit of challenge.
