The NPB rookie training session was held at a hotel in Tokyo on the 9th. Lotte's first draft pick, pitcher Genki Ishigaki (Kendai Takasaki), along with other rookie players, toured baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and attended a lecture by Atsushi Nomi, pitcher coach for Samurai Japan.
During his first visit to baseball Hall of Fame Museum, he was once again struck by the record of Masakazu Kaneda, who pitched in 944 games for the Kokutetsu Swallows and The Giants, recording 400 wins, 298 losses, 4,490 strike out, and an ERA of 2.34. "What impressed me the most was Masakazu Kaneda's record; it's amazing that he pitched like that. It was inspiring, but I don't know if I'll be able to pitch that much," he said, unable to hide his surprise at the extraordinary numbers left behind by the legendary left-handed pitcher who once served as manager of the Lotte Orions. It was a day that strengthened his resolve, as he said, "I want to do my best" in order to be inducted into baseball Hall of Fame in the future.
