It was announced on the 29th that Lotte catcher Ryusei Terachi will be featured in an educational poster produced by the Chiba Coast Guard.
The department produced an awareness poster with the aim of helping more people understand the importance of the Japan Coast Guard's emergency telephone number, "118," and ensuring safety and security at sea. The Japan Coast Guard began using "118" on May 1, 2000, as a contact point for reporting incidents and accidents at sea, such as accidents at sea, illegal fishing, stowaways and smuggling. Furthermore, in December 2010, the department designated January 18th of each year as "118 Day" and has been strengthening its awareness-raising activities.
The approximately 1,300 posters produced this time will be gradually put up on public transportation and in public facilities in Chiba Prefecture starting in January. This year, Sato was chosen. Teraji vowed to do his best, saying, "I'm very happy to have been chosen to appear in this awareness poster, which is being produced with the aim of ensuring safety and security at sea. I love the ocean, too, and I want it to continue to be clean, safe, and secure. I hope that those who see this poster will be able to feel even a little of that message. I would also like to improve my overall level next year on both offense and defense, achieve better results than this year, and contribute to the team. As a bat, I would like to achieve a batting average of over .270, and if possible, .300, so I will work hard at my personal training and at camp."
The department commented, "Mr. Teraji, who will play in 116 games in the 2025 season and excels in the catcher position, which is the linchpin of defense, perfectly embodies the image of the Chiba Coast Guard, which aims for zero incidents and accidents in Chiba's seas. We have chosen to feature him on the poster along with the message, 'Sharply anticipate dangers at sea, safety signs,' which expresses our desire to protect Chiba's seas by anticipating and disseminating information. We hope that in the 2026 season, he will also excel both offensively and defensively and lead Chiba Lotte Marines to win, and that the Japan Coast Guard's emergency hotline '118' will become known to even more people. We wish Mr. Teraji continued success."
