Lotte pitcher Atsuki Taneichi attended contract renewal negotiations at Zozo on the 24th and signed a contract for an annual salary of 130 million yen, an increase of 45 million yen.
At a press conference after contract renewal negotiations, he looked ahead and said, "I have told the team (of my desire to try out for the Major Leagues in the future). I can't say for sure (when I will try), but I will put the team first. I think it lies beyond that, so my first priority is to focus on producing results. I received a positive response (from the team), and they really wanted me to contribute to Chiba Lotte Marines, so I think that I will have to wait until I produce results that everyone will recognize, and that's what we talked about."
Regarding his participation in the WBC in March next year, he said, "I was on the support team for the last tournament, and I want to be on the national team, so I've been working hard during the off-season for that. Whether I'm selected or not, I'll do my best next season." He is also training independently with Mets' Senga to prepare for the WBC selection and next season.
