On the 18th, Orix Buffaloes Hiroya Miyagi pitcher Daiya Miyagi attended contract negotiations at the team's facility in Maishima, Osaka, and signed a contract for an annual salary of 220 million yen, an increase of 20 million yen (estimated amount). This marks his sixth consecutive year of salary increases since joining the team.

This season, his sixth year as a pro, he served as the opening pitcher for the second consecutive year, leading the starting lineup as the ace. Although he was not blessed with a win, with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses, he pitched a career-high 150 1/3 innings, posting a 2.39 ERA and a 9.88 strike out rate, the best in both leagues. Still, he did not seem satisfied, saying, "I feel like we're still quite far away from winning the championship, so next year I'll make sure to stay in the rotation all year and try to win the championship."

After the season ended, he revealed that he had suffered a pulled muscle in his lower back in July. This offseason, he will be doing his own training mainly in Maishima, Osaka. "I hope to keep working on my physical condition and taking measures to prevent recurrence so that I don't get injured again," he said.

The 6th WBC will be held in March next year. Following on from the last tournament in 2023, when the team was crowned world champion, the left-handed pitcher has a chance to participate, saying, "If I'm selected, I'd like to represent Japan and swing my arm well for Japan." He added, "(Major League Baseball) is in a different dimension at the moment. As Orix Buffaloes, I want to do my best to win the championship even without Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Masataka Yoshida."
