On the 30th, Rakuten announced that pitcher Hayato Yuge (31) and Ryuji Komago pitcher (28) will retire from active duty at the end of this season and will become amateur scouts from next season.
Yuge joined the team as the fourth pick in the 2018 draft from Subaru. Last season he pitched in a career-high 34 games, but did not pitch in the first team this season. He has pitched in 82 NPB games, with a record of 9 wins and 7 losses and ERA 4.94. He commented, "I have decided to retire from active play. The fact that I was able to share the good times and the bad times with the fans is a treasure to me. From next season onwards I will work hard for the team as a scout."
Komagome joined the team as the second pick in the 2022 draft from Saginomiya Seisakusho. Over three years, he pitched in seven games for the first team, with no wins or losses, and this season he only played in one game. "I have decided to retire from active play. The three years I spent with Rakuten Eagles were like a dream. I was also energized by the enthusiastic support of all the fans. Thank you very much. From now on, I will do my best to be of help to the team," he said.
