On the 28th, Lotte announced that they had renewed their development contract with pitcher Seiun Akiyama.

Akiyama reflected on this season, saying, "It was good that I was able to pitch consistently for a year in the farm team, and when I was called up to the first-team exhibition game, I was given the chance to show my strengths, so I think it was good."

Last season, he pitched in 30 games and 42 2/3 innings in the farm team, posting ERA of 6.12, but this season he has pitched in 17 games and 43 innings, posting pitch ERA of 2.51.

When asked about the reason for this, he said, "Until now, my performance would fluctuate greatly over the course of a year, but this year, even if I was doing badly, I was able to throw the minimum amount of pitch, and I think the reason is that there were fewer fluctuations." He explained, "It's not just about stabilizing my form, but I also think it was a big factor that I discovered that if I do this practice during the season, I'll be fine."
