Softbank infielder Ukyo Shuto was awarded the stolen base title for the fourth time in three years and the Best Nine for the second time in two years. Due to injury, he didn't reach the required number of at-bats this season, but he said, "I'm really glad to be here again." He expressed dissatisfaction with his batting average of .286 and 35 stolen base bases in 96 games, saying, "I'm not satisfied with these numbers, so I always feel like I still have a long way to go." He also aims to win a batting title next season, saying, "stolen base title is always the last one to speak (on stage). I want to work hard so I can speak a little earlier."
In addition, Softbank has produced eight title holders, the most in history. Of these, five players - Makihara Dai, Yanagimachi, Matsumoto Yutaka, Sugiyama, and Ozeki - are making their first appearance on the stage, and Players' Association President Shuto commented, "We have players who have won so many titles, and this is a new lineup. We don't have Yamakawa, Kondo, or Yanagida like usual. I think this is one of the reasons why we won this year, and I'm happy to be here with such players."
