The winners of the 54th Mitsui Golden Glove Awards, in which the "best nine defense players" are selected by votes from reporters, were announced on the 12th.
Pacific League was represented by five teams, including Nippon-Ham pitcher Hiromi Ito who received the award for the first time. The last-place team in the league, Lotte, was the only team with zero. No player came in second, resulting in a disappointing result.
This marks the fifth time that Lotte has had zero players selected, following 1981, 2002, 2004, and 2013. Under new manager Saburo, they will aim to improve their offensive and defensive skills and hope to have their name on the list next season.
