On the 11th, Lotte's second-round draft pick, Kaito Mori (Meiji University), played catch with first-round draft pick, Genki Ishigaki (Kendai Takasaki High School), on the second day of the rookie joint voluntary training.
During catch game on the first day, Ishigaki commented on Mori's pitches, saying, "It was unique and scary, like it floated up from below, more than I expected when I saw it on YouTube." In response, Mori replied, "I think he's throwing some good pitches, but Ishigaki's pitches are pretty brutal too."
"The ball looks big, and it feels like it comes straight at you without dropping, so I think he throws a really good ball.I don't know because I haven't played catch with the other players, but it's amazing that a high school student can throw a ball like that, he throws a really good ball," he praised.
Looking ahead to the camp on February 1st, he said enthusiastically, "I think the season will be very important. I see camp as just a stepping stone, so first I'd like to do what I need to do in the joint voluntary training for rookies and try to be in good condition for camp."
