Today, December 8th (Monday), we'll look back at the game in which Hokkaido Nippon-Ham-Nao Miyanishi pitcher Naoki Miyanishi achieved the remarkable feat of becoming only the fourth player in NPB history to reach 900 career appearances.
The milestone game will be played in front of the home fans
On September 23, the final game of the season, the 25th inning against Tohoku Rakuten Eagles was held at the Northeastern Japan Baseball Stadium. Shoma Kanemura pitcher The first two runs came in the top of the fifth inning with three down and one out, and the second runner on first and second, Rui Muneyama Miyanishi pitcher moved up to mound with a runner at first and two outs. He gave up a Walk to Soyama and then gave up a sacrifice fly to Franco. Although this milestone appearance was a disappointing result, Miyanishi accomplished a great feat in front of his many fans.
In his 18th professional season this year, pitcher Miyanishi appeared in 31 games, recording 1 win, 1 loss, 12 hold, and an ERA of 3.20. In 2024, he will become the first player in NPB history to record 400 hold, and on May 15th of this year, in a game against Orix Buffaloes, he achieved an unprecedented 880 consecutive relief appearances. A bronze statue of him was unveiled at "F FES 2025 Supported By Fanatics" held on November 22nd. Expectations are already high for the ironman's performance in the coming seasons.
