Nippon-Ham announced on the 11th that infielder Takuya Nakashima has declared his retirement from active play at the end of this season.

Nakashima commented through the club's official X account, "I have decided to retire from active duty at the end of this season. I am proud to have been able to play in The Fighters jersey for 18 years. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me until now. I want to continue standing on the ground in my own way as a member of The Fighters until the very end. Thank you for your support until the finish."

Nakajima joined Nippon-Ham as the 5th draft pick in 2008 and played exclusively for Nippon-Ham for 18 years. He won the stolen base title and the Best Nine award in 2015, and in 2016, when the team won the league championship and the Japan Series, he appeared in 143 games, recording a .243 batting average, 28 RBI, 62 sacrifice bunts, and 23 stolen bases.

Since 2020, his playing opportunities have decreased, and in recent years he has challenged himself not only at his primary position of short stop but also in the outfield. He has had no first-team appearances so far this season, and in 56 games with the farm team, he recorded a .265 batting average, 12 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. His career first-team totals include 1,313 games played, 2 Home Runs, 181 RBI, 206 stolen bases, and a .237 batting average.
