The Orix Buffaloes suffered their 15th shutout game loss of the season, marking their second consecutive game without scoring. Starting pitcher Jerry suffered his 9th loss (against 3 wins) with his 6th consecutive personal defeat, despite a strong effort pitching a career-high 8 innings in Japan and allowing only 2 runs. Manager Mamoru Kishida offered words of appreciation, saying, 'He seemed to be in good form and it was a great pitch. I feel sorry that we couldn't score any runs for him. He hasn't been blessed with many wins lately, but he is working patiently for us.'

With only 17 games remaining, the situation is such that a come-from-behind advancement to the Climax Series must be described as hopeless. 'That's all we can do now,' he said, promising to show the fans as many winning games as possible.
