Nippon-Ham defeated Rakuten Eagles in a comeback victory, marking their second 8-game winning streak of the season, including one draw. While their standings remain in 3rd place, there is no game gap between them and the 2nd place Seibu Lions. The gap between them and the leading Softbank Hawks is now 6 games.

Although they gave up two runs in the first inning, they caught up to 2-2 in the fourth inning through an infield grounder and a squeeze by Shindo.

With one out and runners on first and second in the sixth inning, Kotaro Kiyomiya hit a 124-meter blast to center-left off a sinker from Rakuten Eagles' Takinaka. This three-run shot, his 17th of the season, gave the team the lead, and the following batter Shindo also hit a solo Home Run to right-center, extending the lead to 6-2.

The starter Arihara gave up two runs on two hit and two walks/Hit by Pitch in the first inning, but he tightened up his performance from the second inning onwards. He held the opponent to five hit and two runs over six innings as a closer of the lead to earn his sixth win. He commented, "I'm glad I was able to recover from the second inning. I want to make sure I can deliver an even better pitch in my next appearance."
