◆ Pacific League: Softbank Hawks vs. Seibu Lions (June 6th, Mizuho PayPay Stadium)
The Seibu Lions took an early lead in the first inning with a brilliant attack.
In the top of the first inning, the lead-off hitter Canario reached base with a hit to right-front. After Takizawa, batting second, successfully executed a sacrifice bunt to make it one out with a runner on second, the third hitter Kojima caught a low-inside slider from the opposing starter Kamichatani and hit a go-ahead doble down the right-field line.
The fly ball to the right field line by the fourth batter, Nevin, was blocked by a fine play from the opposing right fielder and resulted in a fly out to right. However, the fifth batter, Hasegawa, received a Hit by Pitch to make it two outs with runners on first and second, and the sixth batter, An-Ko Lin, hit a pitcher-striking infield hit to create another opportunity with two outs and the bases loaded. But here, the seventh batter, Watanabe, who entered the batter's box, struck out swinging, and they were unable to score any additional runs.
Before the game, they were on a three-game losing streak, trailing the first-place Softbank Hawks by seven games. With third-place Nippon-Ham having closed the gap to zero games, the standings could change depending on the results of both teams' games.
