It was revealed on the 5th that the Rakuten Eagles are proceeding with negotiations to retain outfielder Carson McCusker (28) for next season. The foreign slugger in his first year in Japan struggled early in the season but gradually adapted to Japanese baseball. He has appeared in 82 games so far, leading the team with a .270 batting average, 21 Home Runs, and 59 RBIs. Having valued his high potential since his acquisition, the club had included a contract extra inning option for the second year and beyond, and they have evaluated him as a necessary asset for next season as well.

infielder Luke Voit (35), who underwent surgery on his right elbow in August, is believed to have signed a multi-year contract. Pitchers Junior pitcher (31), Roansy Contreras pitcher 26), and José Ureña pitcher 34) will be reconsidered for contract renewal after the end of the season.
