Softbank Hawks pitcher Naoyuki Uwasawa survived a crisis in the 8th inning with zero runs allowed.

In the 8th inning with the score tied 1-1, he faced a one-out bases loaded situation following two hits and a Walk. Even a sacrifice fly would have allowed the go-ahead run when he faced Kiyomiya, but this was where Uwasawa showed his true worth. After reaching a count of 2-2, he struck out Kiyomiya with a fork, and then struck out the following batter Castro with another fork. As he left the mound letting out a roar, Manager Kokubo greeted him with a smile.

The right-hander threw 123 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 1 runs. He showed a powerful performance with 10 strike outs. In his place, Yu Matsumoto took the mound in the 9th inning.
