Orix Buffaloes announced that their first-round draft pick, pitcher Atsuya Fujikawa, underwent ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery on his right elbow at a hospital in Saga Prefecture yesterday. He is scheduled to be hospitalized for several days before undergoing rehabilitation to return to competition.

In his rookie year this season, pitcher Fujikawa appeared in four games in the minor leagues, pitching a total of 10 scoreless runs. His last appearance in regular season was on June 19th, when he started against Hanshin Tigers Tigers.
