Seibu Lions Takumi Kuriyama outfielder (42) retired in his retirement game, win Rakuten Eagles 4–1. He played starting line-up as the 6th batter and DH, hitting a hit to center field in his fourth at-bat in the 8th inning, finishing the game 4 At Bat-1 hit. A retirement ceremony was held after the game.

Hideo Nomo, whom Kuriyama respects, appeared as one of the guests. After handing over a bouquet, Nomo expressed his gratitude, saying, 'Thank you for all the fun times so far. Seeing you grow from the time we practiced together until today has become a personal treasure of mine.' He then sent a passionate message: 'One more thing, I want you to retract your retirement. I truly mean it. I will come to your retirement game as many times as it takes. I want to support Kuriyama's future decisions and actions.'
