Lotte's starting pitcher Jackson exploded with frustration at the home-base umpire's call.

In the fourth inning with a three-run lead, facing hitter Imagawa with one out and runners on first and second, he first showed a dissatisfied expression when a low change-up after getting ahead in the count was called a ball. Furthermore, when a low 155 km/h pitch on a 2-2 count was called a ball, he once again showed his frustration.

Furthermore, when a low cutter on a full count was also ruled a ball, he stepped off the mound and approached the home-base umpire.

Jackson was calmed down by his teammates, but his anger exploded when he gave up a two-run doble down the right-field line to the following batter, Otsuka. Unable to recover at this point, he gave up a two-run triple over right field to the following batter, Tamiya, allowing the lead to change, and then Yamagata executed a squeeze play, resulting in five runs in total.
