Rakuten Eagles announced on the 23rd that Luke Voit underwent "Internal Brace and Common Tendon Attachment Repair Surgery for Right Elbow Medial Collateral Ligament Injury and Common Tendon Attachment Rupture" in the United States on August 19th.

According to the team, Voit will aim to return to the team depending on his recovery progress. In his first year with the team last season, Voit hit 13 Home Run in 67 games, and even greater success was expected this season. However, so far this season he has played in 20 games, batting .119 with 0 Home Run runs and 3 RBI, failing to replicate his performance from last season.
