Rakuten Eagles lost to Seibu Lions in a close game, suffering their third consecutive defeat.

It was a pitcher game. Hayakawa, who started the game, kept going out at a good pace and kept the pitcher to 1-runs hit through the third inning, leaving the game scoreless. He got off to a strong start. In the sixth inning with neither team scoring, he faced a crisis with runners on first and second with two outs but remained unfazed. He got Yamamura to grounder to shortstop and got through it.

The batting lineup struggled against Seibu Lions 's starting pitcher, Sumida. In the fifth inning, Murabayashi led off with doble, putting runner in scoring position for the first time, but the subsequent batters failed to capitalize.

The game changed in the final innings. With both teams scoreless in the 8th inning, Kutani took mound. After walking two Walk, putting runners on first and second with two outs, he gave up a two doble down the right-field line to Koga. The deadlock was finally broken.

The batting lineup wanted to fight back, but they were unable to break through Seibu Lions pitcher staff until the very end.
