◆ Pacific League Softbank Hawks vs. Orix Buffaloes (22nd, Mizuho PayPay Dome)

On the 22nd, Orix Buffaloes Buffaloes announced that pitcher Kaede Yokoyama underwent Tommy John surgery (reconstruction of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow) at a hospital in Saga Prefecture on the 21st. After a few days in the hospital, he is scheduled to begin rehabilitation depending on his condition.

He only made seven appearances this season and was removed from the active roster on April 24 due to a right elbow injury. At one point, he had recovered to the point where he was close to returning to action, but he has been unable to throw since late July. After discussions with the team and consultations at several hospitals, he made the decision to aim for a comeback next season.

He joined the team in 2021 as the sixth pick in the draft from Sega Sammy, and returned to the main roster last July after being a developmental player. With his unique small backswing, he racks up struck out and had a good record of 2 wins, 4 hold, and ERA of 1.10 in 14 games. If he is in top condition, he will be an indispensable part of the relief pitching staff. On the 19th, pitcher Atsuya Fujikawa (18), a first-year high school graduate, underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
