Seibu Lions Lions pitcher Kaima Taira allowed 7 hit and 2 runs over 7 innings to earn his 9th win of the season. In his third appearance at Tokyo Dome this season, he secured his first victory and reflected, "I'm glad I was able to keep everything together overall."

In the first inning, he walked the leadoff batter, Mune, but with one out and a Walk on first, he got Nishikawa to hit into a double play play with a 156 km/h fastball. In the second inning, with one out and a runner on first, he got Kita to hit into another double double play.

However, in the third inning—with the score still 0-0—with no outs and runners on first and third, Wakatsuki grounded out to third, allowing the opposing team to score the first run of the game. In the sixth inning, he gave up a solo home run Home Run to lead-off hitter Mune, but managed to retire the next batters.In the seventh inning, he allowed the bases to be loaded with two outs runner, but ultimately retired pinch-hitter Mugitani on a called third strike struck out after a 156-kilometer fastball full count.
