Lotte win, bringing the series score to 1-1.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, with the score tied 1-1 and one out, Nishikawa hit to right field off Seibu Lions 's second pitcher, Wingenter. Yasuda followed with a sharp line drive drive down the right field line. First base umpire Nakayuki called it a foul ball, but manager Saburo requested a review. After a replay review, the call was overturned to fair, and Yasuda was doble, with runners on second and third with one out as the game resumed. Yamaguchi then hit a go-ahead RBI single to left field. Further runs were added with squeeze by Sato and an RBI single by Ogawa, making the score 4-1.

He hit a crucial doble Wingenter, who had set a new professional baseball record with 20 consecutive hold before the game and had ERA of 0.00. After the game, he said excitedly, "I'm glad it was a fair ball. I could see it (dropping onto the line). He's a really good pitcher, so it makes a big difference whether it was fair or foul. I'm glad Yamaguchi (who came up next) was able to finish it off."
