Nippon-Ham infielder Yuki Nomura hit his 14th home run of the season, a solo shot that is a new personal best.
In the sixth inning, with a two-run lead, he stepped up to the plate as the leadoff batter and connected with a fastball from Orix Buffaloes 's second pitcher, Kawase.
His previous best was 13 home runs in the 2023 season, so he broke his own record. He commented, "We had scored runs (in the previous inning), and I was the leadoff hitter, so I just swung with all my might."
