Softbank Hawks suffered their third three-game losing streak of the season, the first being a four-game losing streak up until May 16th.

Starting pitcher Kamichatani gave up the lead with one out and a runner on first in the first inning with a two-run homer by Muneyama, and in the fourth inning, with the score tied 2-2, McCusker's two-run homer gave up the go-ahead lead. In the fifth inning, Nakajima hit a solo homer, and in the seventh, he gave up an additional run in squeeze. He suffered his first loss of the season with six runs in the seventh inning. His winning streak since the start of the season ended at seven. Allowing three home runs in one game tied his personal worst since DeNA's rookie game at Yokohama on August 27, 2019, against Yakult.

The offense managed to tie the game briefly with solo home runs from Yanagida with two outs in the first inning and from Watanabe with one out in the third inning. In the eighth inning, trailing by four runs, they scored two runs with a timely hit from Kurihara, but their comeback fell short. They suffered consecutive losses to Rakuten Eagles, and their first losing record in 16 series since the three-game series Yakult before the interleague games (June 12-14).
