Softbank Hawks 's pitcher Carter Stewart left mound in the middle of the second inning after giving up two runs.
He got through the first inning without giving up any runs, but in the second inning, with no outs and a runner on first, he gave up a two-run homer to Ueda, allowing the opposing team to take the lead. With one out and runners on first and second, pitcher coach Kurano went to mound. He showed signs of discomfort in his leg and returned to the dugout for treatment.
He returned to mound and resumed pitch, but was removed from Walk after walking Nishikawa. Kobayashi came in as the second pitcher.
