Softbank Hawks Hawks outfielder Kensuke Kondo hit a go-ahead solo home run in the second inning, his 24th of the season.

Kurihara was absent that day due to an allergic reaction. Kondo played as the cleanup hitter for the first time since the game against Seibu Lions on May 13th (at Mizuho PayPay Dome).

Stepping up to bat as the leadoff batter in the second inning, Kondo swung hard at Takeuchi's second pitch after one strike. The ball soared into the left side of the center field scoreboard. It was Kondo's birthday that day, and his first home run in 10 games with his first swing of the season at 33 years old. He provided support for starting pitcher Maeda Yu, who was aiming for his 10th consecutive win of the season.
