Nippon-Ham Kohei Arihara pitcher (33) became the 161st player in history to reach 1,000 strike out. In the third inning, with one out, he hit a swinging struck out at 136 km/h change-up off Nakajima. This was achieved in 1,372 and 1/3 innings. After the top of the third inning, Manager Shinjo held a commemorative board in front of the bench and took a commemorative photo with smiles, drawing thunderous cheers from the crowd. This was the first time this season that he had achieved this since Orix Buffaloes Hirano on March 29.

He joined Nippon-Ham as their first overall pick in the 2014 draft. He won Rookie of the Year in 2015 and the most wins title with 15 victories in 2019.
