Nippon-Ham secured their fourth walk-off victory of the season. In the bottom of the ninth inning, with one out and runners on first and second base, Yazawa hit a single to right hit. The runner on second base initially rounded third base but stopped, but Rakuten Eagles 's right fielder, Muto, bad throw to home plate, allowing the runner to slide into home plate.

In the second inning, with no outs and a runner on first, Nomura doble down the left field line, first runner Yoshida tried to score, but was tagged out at home. In the third inning with two outs and bases loaded, Nomura flew out to center. In the fifth inning, leadoff hitter Tonetani reached base with his first professional hit single to left, but the top lineup couldn't keep up.

Starter Tatsu faced a crisis but showed tenacity by not letting the pitch score. He closer runs through the fifth inning, but in the sixth, Kurokawa hit his second solo homer over the right field, giving up the lead. Then, in the seventh, Ota hit a doble to right-center with one out and a runner on third, and Nakajima added another run to left sacrifice fly.

Nevertheless, in the bottom of the 8th inning, with two outs bases loaded following Yoshida’s hit and 2-4 Hit by Pitch, Manager Shinjo brought in Reyes—who had been taken out of the game starting line-up to rest—as a pinch hitter. Reyes then hit a two-run single down the left-field line doble, tying the game in one fell swoop.
