Rakuten Eagles narrowly defeated Orix Buffaloes, ending their six-game losing streak.

Starting pitcher Kishi was exceptionally stable. He pitched well, allowing only two hit and one runs over seven innings, earning his third win of the season. This brought his career total to 173 win, tying him with Masumi Kuwata (The Giants) and Jun Aramaki (Hankyu). This was also Kishi's 70th win with Rakuten Eagles, making him only the sixth player to achieve 70 wins with two or more teams. Manager Yoshii smiled and said of the veteran's pitch, "It was good."

In the first inning, with two outs and a runner on first, McCusker hit a two-run homer to left field off Tajima to give the team the lead. In the fifth inning, with a two-run lead, Taira led off with doble. After Horiuchi's sacrifice bunt put a runner on third with one out, Muneyama hit sacrifice fly fly to center field, adding another run. The manager reflected, "We were able to score a run with the lower part of the batting order, so it was good that we were able to score the additional run first."

The third goal was particularly significant because they had lose their most recent match without scoring any additional goals. The manager commented, "More than anything to say about Kishi's performance, yesterday and the time we suffered a major comeback defeat on the 3rd, we conceded the second goal first, which put us in a bad position. I think if we can play the game like this again, we'll create more chances."
